Who We Are
The BC Big Band rehearses in little Buies Creek, North Carolina, but we have a BIG SOUND and a growing reputation for pleasing audiences of all sizes and types. We began as a group of Campbell music alumni who were eager to continue our musical journey, and we are still loosely affiliated with the Fine Arts Division of Campbell University. While we still welcome Campbell faculty and a few top-tier student players, our current membership includes older, professional and semi-pro musicians from all over the Triangle. Though diverse, we're united by a shared love for making great music together!
A typical show by the BC Big Band will include selections by Marvin Gaye, Natalie Cole, Count Basie, Earth Wind and Fire, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Carole King, Michael Buble, Ray Charles, Barry Manilow and other legendary musicians. We play traditional jazz, swing, rock, blues, bossa nova, and nearly every style in between. Vocals by band members are interspersed with ear-catching instrumental pieces.
We perform throughout the year at venues, festivals, and community events across the Triangle area. Whether you're a lifelong swing/jazz fan, or coming to your first live “big band” show, we'd love to share our music with you.
